NURTURE YOUR MIND

Quiet the busy monkey mind with daily meditation. If you cannot always find the time to make it to your Yoga/Meditation class be DIAH saavy. Do It At Home by carving out a small space that is just for you and set aside at least ten minutes each day. Choose a space that makes you feel comfortable and happy, away from excess noise, unless of course you are a rockstar that can tune it out. Kudos.

Outside, if you have a lovely back yard or deck, tack up gauze curtains or sheer fabric for a cabana effect. Inside, find a window or corner of a room, place a religious icon on the wall or a candle, if it makes you feel cozy. Hey, why not choose your closet if you have enough floor space amidst your favorite footwear, although I would not recommend lighting a candle in that situation.

We all know that space is not usually the biggest issue, it's time!!! Nurture your mind by taking the time. We can all find at the very least ten minutes in our busy schedules to take time for ourselves, pencil it in. Even if the idea seems counter productive, we truly can accomplish so much more by slowing down.

Not quite prepared to join the slow down movement? I recommend reading The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh, in which he suggests turning run of the mill chores into daily meditations. Drinking a cup of tea, washing the dishes, and doing the laundry can morph into a form of meditation when we become mindful of each step. Namaste.
